Jichang Garden is one of the key ancient private gardens under State preservation and protection. It was built in 1506 in the Ming Dynasty. This garden was always owned by the Qin family, which is why it was also called Qin Garden. The first owner was Qin Jin, a high-ranking official in the imperial court.
The garden is elegantly laid out in typical Chinese national style, epitomizing Chinese art and the culture of the Ming dynasty. Only about a hectare in size, it is famous for the way it makes the surrounding landscape part of its own scenery. The wall of the garden is hidden by ancient trees so that Xi Hill and Hui Hill behind them seem an integral part of the garden.
