Sixty calligraphy and painting works by Tao Shoubo, a famous painter born in Wuxi, were handed over through his son Tao Longruo to Wuxi Museum recently.
Tao Shoubo was adept at calligraphy, stone carving and Chinese painting. During his later years in Taiwan, a majority of his works featured the plum blossom and gained him the fame as the "King of Plum Blossom".
"My father nurtures a deep feeling towards his birthplace. Therefore it is best to donated his works to his hometown. Wuxi Museum will serve as a good place to preserve his works and for people's study and appreciation," said Tao Longruo.
Wuxi Museum has decided to put on a special exhibition featuring Tao Shoubo's works around the National Day holiday.
