After almost two years of construction, the Museum of Township Enterprise opened to public in Xishan District on July 28.
Located at the former site of the country's earliest township enterprise -Chunlei Shipyard, the museum, while tracing the birth and growth o Chinese twonship enterprises, gives much exposure to their great achievements, historical progress, regional development and exploration process of growth models. Numerous collections with historic value, many coming from donors, are exhibited in the museum. Exhibits range from the 1940's single-spindle hand-spinning machined to the Xihri electric bikd used during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, giving visitors a vivid picture of the enterprises's rapid growth and development progress.
China's township enterprises have achieved remarkable development since they were born half a century ago, They played irreplaceable roles in developing the national economy, increasing peasants' income and providing jobs for surplus rural workers.
