The International Consortium of Stem Cell Research(INCOSC), located in Wuxi Mashan Bio-Pharmaceutical R&D Outsourcing Service Park, has achievel success recently in extracting stem cells from umbilical cord blood and storing them in Boya Stem Cell Bank.
INCOSC also announced the stem cell bank, unparalleled in China in terms of its standards, was formally put into operation.
Boya Stem Cell Bank, which can store as many as 1.5 million stem cell samples, is the largest in the country. It is also the first full automation bank in China to be in accordance with international standards.
INCOSC, with a total investment of RMB 500 million, was initiated by Linx Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd, a local "530 Plan" enterprise. Its major cooperating institutes include U.K. Roslin Institute, where the world's first cloned sheep Dolly was created, the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM), Peking University and Chinese Academy of Sciences.
